英文摘要Central Asia(CA)occupies the hinterland of the Eurasian continent, containing the countries of Uzbekistan,Kyrgyzstan,Turkmenistan,Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan [1,2].Being isolated by the Pamir Mountains in Tajikistan, the Tibetan Plateau and the Tian Shan Mountains on the border between China and Kyrgyzstan, the moist air from the Pacific and Indian Oceans has difficulty reaching this region.More than 93% of the total area is dry land(including arid, semiarid, and subhumid areas,as defined by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification),and the ecosystems of this region are very sensitive and susceptible to climate change [3].In order to better perform sustainable management in CA,which is an important pivot area along the "Silk Road Economic Belt",it is crucial to understand regional climate change and its interaction with water resources, land cover, and ecosystems. For this reason, the "Sino-German Joint Research Center for the Management of Ecosystems and Environmental Changes in Arid Lands" was established in 2013.Following six years of research, many of the researchers participating in this collaborative effort have formed close connections, and many new and fruitful research findings relating to CA have been made.Through mutual endeavor and intercommunication by this Sino-German partnership, the research data that we report here have been acquired from three different sources:(1)open data sources on the Internet, such as the Climatic Research Unit(CRU)dataset;(2)translated data from Russian materials;and(3)new meteorological stations(with 15 already established and three under construction)staffed by our research group.
