英文摘要 | Mountain oases in North Africa are directly affected by the effects of climate change, which are amplifying all agronomic constraints: limited arable land, structural aridity, etc. The aim of this study is to analyze the different dimensions of crop-livestock coupling, and their effects on agricultural systems. Thirty farms located in M'semrir and Tilmi communes (altitude 1900 m, Central High Atlas, Morocco) were surveyed. Agricultural working hours and annual income generated by different agricultural activities were determined. A typology of farms was drawn up on the basis of the operating data collected. Five types were characterized, illustrating differences in geographic locations: i) mobile flocks with diversified crops; ii) sedentary livestock relying on family work; iii) coupling cash crops and sedentary livestock; iv) sedentary livestock fed with cultivated fodder crops; and v) association between orchards and sedentary livestock with massive manure spreading. Results show that the work allocated to livestock production represents over half (57%) of total agricultural work. This illustrates the importance of livestock in mountain oases, since it also generates around half (49%) of the average farm income. Work devoted to livestock is almost entirely (93%) assumed by family members, as they also participate in crop-related work (66%). Apple orchards account for the bulk of this (57%), followed by cereals (29%) and vegetable production (14%). A average daily remuneration for work of 7.55 ; 23.6 ; 6.1 and 3.7 was calculated respectively for livestock, apple orchards, cereals and vegetable production. |
