英文摘要	The introduction of new varieties of so-called high yielding forage legumes has considerably reduced the number of local varieties. However, these new varieties are not always adapted to the increasingly stressful Algerian climatic conditions with climate change. Spontaneous populations can be an important source of water stress tolerance. This study aims to characterize phenotypically under controlled conditions (in greenhouse pots) 28 spontaneous accessions of the genus Vicia L. collected through 22 sites distributed over almost the entire semi-arid province of Setif and its neighboring regions. The analysis of variance with a accession factor based on the Student-Newman-Keuls (SNK) test at the 5% threshold showed a significant effect for almost all the variables used. Accession 27 (Vicia narbonensis L.) was the most efficient for aboveground biomass production with an average yield of 3.10g/plant. While accession 21 (Vicia monantha L.) is more suitable for grain production with a yield of around 5.83g/plant. The positive correlation between plant height and grain yield (r= 0.58) shows that tall accessions tend to produce more grain than dwarf ones. On the other hand, the negative correlation between plant height and lodging index (r=-0.58) indicates that dwarf plants are more resistant to lodging. Moreover, the good dispersion of the points in the circle of individuals of the principal component analysis reflects the amplitude of the genetic variability of this germplasm.
