英文摘要 | Argyrolobium uniflorum (Decne.) is an endemic shrub native to North Africa, widely distributed in the central and southern rangelands of Tunisia. Renowned for its robust symbiotic performance, this legume assumes a critical role in the revegetation and landscape restoration of arid and saline environments. Despite its significance, the seeds of this plant have remained largely unexplored. Thus, this study aims to comprehensively investigate the phytochemical profile, antioxidant potential, protein content, and mineral composition of A. uniflorum seeds collected from four arid regions in Tunisia. The Bradford assay unveiled substantial protein levels in the seeds, averaging 12.79%. The primary protein fractions were globulins (41.35-56.27 mg/g), albumins (37.9-45.27 mg/g), and glutelins (21.33-30.03 mg/g). Additionally, flame atomic absorption spectroscopy confirmed significant amounts of Na, K, Ca, Mg, and Fe in A. uniflorum seeds. Phytochemical analysis revealed moderate concentrations of polyphenols (ranging from 9.5 to 12 mg gallic acid equivalents/g DW), flavonoids (ranging from 1.04 to 4.8 mg quercetin equivalents/g DW), and condensed tannins (ranging from 0.3 to 1.5 mg catechin equivalents/g DW). LC-ESI/MS further identified a range of phenolic compounds, with quinic acid, protocatechuic acid, trans-ferulic acid, luteolin-7-O-glucoside, quercetin-3-O-rhamnoside, apigenin, and kaempferol being the most prominent. Notably, the phytochemical profiles exhibited significant variations among the selected populations, potentially influenced by distinct local environmental conditions. Beyond their ecological and physiological importance, the seeds of these plants emerge as a valuable source of phenolics, minerals, and proteins. This aspect holds promise as a compelling incentive for promoting the cultivation of these plants. |
