英文摘要 | Fresh water scarcity is an identified global challenge that threatens the lives of humanity. Atmospheric water is advised as a huge renewable reservoir of water that is enough to meet the water scarcity of arid regions, especially for inland areas lacking liquid water sources. Graphene, with its high surface area, mechanical strength, and water intercalation efficiency, has been recognized as a potential candidate in atmospheric water harvesting. High photo-to-thermal conversion efficiency combined with hydrophobicity enables facile release of the collected water. Consolidation of literature on graphene-based moisture harvesters is presented herein. A discussion on water distribution on earth and current state of the art based on other materials is also included. The challenges encountered in material design that limits the successful practical application of these systems are also looked into. |
