Status of acaricide resistance in Rhipicephalus microplus collected from arid and semi-arid parts of Haryana, India

英文摘要The regular monitoring of status of acaricide resistance by various techniques build the backbone of tick control programmes. The one host tick, Rhipicephalus microplus is the most common cattle tick responsible for several health hazards (babesiosis and anaplasmosis) and economic losses to the organized livestock farms in India. The present manuscript aimed to determine the status of acaricide resistance against multiple chemical acaricides, which are commonly used by livestock owners. The rapid and simplified FAO recommended adult immersion test with discriminating dose (AIT-DD) bioassay has been used to encourage the continuus field level monitoring of status of acaricide resistance. Out of the 20 isolates collected from 8 districts belonging to arid and semi-arid zone of Haryana, resistance against deltamethrin (40-100%), cypermethrin (26.67-100%), coumaphos (6.67-26.67%), fipronil (3.33-40.0%) and amitraz (6.67-80%) were recorded in 90%,75%, 20%, 40% and 35% isolates, respectively. All the isolates showed complete susceptibility to the flumethrin treatment. Data generated revealed a notable variance of susceptibility to synthetic pyrethroid and formamidine drugs in the R. microplus population of arid and semi-arid zone of Haryana. This study records the first attempt to monitor the status of acaricide resistance in ticks against all the available acaricides. Data generated can be used as an indicator for the management of one host tick in the state.
