英文摘要 | The aim of this study is to provide knowledge about leaf nutrient status of quince cultivars seedlings (Cydonia oblonga Mill.) grown under silty-clayloam soil with different calcium carbonate equivalents. Although there is currently limited use of leaf testing for the quince tree grown under different soil lime, it is considered a highly sensitive species to lime -induced iron chlorosis. Critical thresholds were used as references in interpreting the nutrient concentrations of quince cultivars according to the amount of calcium carbonate equivalent in their soil bed. Concentration of K was generally below the critical threshold, i.e., only about 11% of the samples were above 1%. Also, Ca level was generally below the critical threshold. Only 30% of the samples were above 1.30%. The leaf-B was more critical and was below 20 ppm in 96% of the samples assessed. The Fe element was by far most critical so that none of the samples were above 50 ppm. However, interpreting of leaf nutrient concentrations of quince genotypes studied indicated that the amounts of N, phosphorus P, Mg, and Zn element were in all studied quince seedling cultivars exposed to 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18% CaCO3 above literature cited thresholds. Variation in the maintenance of essential mineral nutrition status could be a critical factor in quince cultivars seedlings (Cydonia oblonga Mill.) tolerance to calcareous soil conditions. Our results also revealed the most suitable quince cultivars seedlings in silty -clay -loam with different calcareous soil types for orchard establishment in arid and semi -arid regions. |
