| 英文摘要 | This article reviews currently available data on the Palaeolithic of North-Eastern Africa (current Egypt and Sudan), from the perspective of the history of the research in this region. In particular, this region is key in questions related to hominin dispersals out of (and back into) Africa, but is also at the crossroads of two different schools for the study of prehistory, which is visible in the parallel use of two different nomenclatures (the European Palaeolithic, and the African Stone Age) for the description of its prehistoric record. Here, the term Palaeolithic is used as a generic term referring to Pleistocene prehistory. The main steps of the construction of the chrono-cultural framework of the North-Eastern African Palaeolithic are summarised, in order to understand the potential biases associated with the Palaeolithic data of the region. For each phase of the Palaeolithic, currently available data are reviewed in order to discuss the place of NorthEastern Africa in its macroregional context. (C) 2022 Elsevier Masson SAS.
