英文摘要 | Salinity is one of the major harmful factors limiting crop production in arid and semi-arid region. So, in the current study we try to clarify the mechanism that might be involved in the ameliorating effects of salinity stress at 1500 and 3000 ppm (S1 and S2) on soybean plants by osmo-protectants such as proline (200 ppm) and ascorbic acid (400 ppm) individually or in combination. Our results indicated that salinity stress induced a significant reduction in morphological and physiological characteristics such leaf number, leaf area, dry weights of stems and leaves, chlorophyll a and b as well as relative water content. Additionally, salinity stress led to increase electrolyte leakage, lipid peroxidation and reactive oxygen species in stressed soybean plants compared with control plants. Nevertheless, application of pro line (Pr) and ascorbic acid (AA) individually or the combination (Pr AA) under seawater stress (S1 and S2) conditions significantly improved the most of studied characters. |
