英文摘要	In this final chapter, we turn attention to borders in the Middle East, more particularly that between Oman and the UAE, and the border towns o f al-Buraymi and al-Ayn. Here policies pursued by the two central governments, driven by their own priorities over legitimacy, security, socio-economic engineering and the consequent desire for a hard border were again central, but in far more successfully controlling ways. Thus, what had been a single thriving oasis community increasingly became two cities on either side of the border, with former business and family relationships increasingly disrupted.
