英文摘要	This study approaches the Paul and Antony panel on the late ninth- or early tenth-century tower cross at Kells (Co. Meath, Ireland) as memorial media intended in part to anchor the monastic community's identity in a spiritual genealogy with roots in late antique Egypt. Employing aspects of memory studies, this essay offers a case study of the manner in which the individual(s) commissioning the tower cross could utilize the motif of Paul and Antony's desert meeting to promote unity at a time of uncertainty.
