英文摘要 | The use of processed ASTER images (VNIR and SWIR) supplemented by geological fieldwork and spectral measurements of field samples then petrographic studies enabled the creating of a new geological map of the northwestern sector of the Wadi Allaqi, South Eastern Desert, Egypt. Color ratio composites, band math, false-color composites, and principal component analysis techniques are used to refine the different lithologic units in the area. These methods showed the discrimination of different types of metamorphic and igneous rocks as well as dikes. The false color band combinations b4, b5, and b3 in RGB and color ratio composites 4/1, 6/2, and 8/2 and 4/7, 2/4, and 6/8 for RGB are showing a good composite which separated between the different rock types in the study area especially serpentinites, talc carbonate, and marble. The principal component analysis technique of ASTER (PC3, PC1, and PC4 in RGB; PC2, PC3, and PC1 in RGB; and PC4, PC2, and PC1 in RGB) enhances the main structural trends affecting the area under investigation. These images are considered good for lithologic and structural edge enhancements for both visual interpretation and field mapping. FCC images 7, 3, and 1 in RGB are showing a large open fold as well as the major left-strike slip fault and restraining (Augen) shape as a result of being affected by the Allaqi Heiani shear zone. The axial plane of an anticlinal fold-oriented NW-SE is plunging with a moderate angle to the SE. The major strike-slip fault is the wadi Um Arka sinistral fault that runs subparallel to Um Ashira major fault that led to lateral movement of metasediment and the marble bands' horizontal displacements of about 100 to 747 m. Restraining bend structure (sigmoidal=augen shape) formed a result of a fault. The final map illustrating the lithological composition and structural areas is based on field studies and remote sensing techniques. |
