英文摘要 | This study investigates soil aggregate distribution, soil organic carbon (SOC), and total nitrogen (TN) concentrations in total soil and within aggregates under different land uses in Regosols of Ghannouch, southern arid region of Tunisia. From three sites, i.e., native soils (NS), olive-growing soil (OG), and seasonal-crop soil (SC) land use, four depths were sampled (0-10, 10-20, 20-40, and >40 cm) and separated into three aggregate-size classes (macroaggregates >0.250mm; microaggregates 0.250-0.050 mm; and <0.050 mm size class). The SOC and TN concentrations in total soil were higher and decreased with depth in SC and in OG than in NS land use. The three land uses showed that microaggregates constituted the major proportion (65-92%) across depths. Macroaggregate amounts were 4 to 5 times higher in NS than in SC and OG. The SOC and TN tend to be concentrated in macroaggregates and in <0.050mm size class in OG and SC soils. Nevertheless in NS, SOC and TN concentrations were higher in <0.050-mm size class. The increase of SOC and TN within aggregates is the result of the increase of SOC in total soil. We observed that cultivation enhances SOC and TN of Regosols, but it decreases their physical protection within macroaggregates. Moreover, higher positive correlation was found between SOC in total soil and SOC in macroaggregates (r=0.81). More studies about the distribution of SOC and TN in soil aggregates are required in arid soils to improve their fertility and to enhance their function as a sink of greenhouse gases. |
