英文摘要	In the highlands known as Altos de Arica, the north-south Andean foothills route is known as the Inca Road. Several authors(1) have made reference to sections of this road, but it is especially notable for its antiquity, which pre-dates Tawantinsuyo. This paper discusses the importance of this route in the foothills region of Arica, emphasizing the importance of the landscape in the road network and its relation to other routes that crossed the desert and to settlements associated with the road network.(2)
