| 英文摘要 | Abdellatif Laabi's epistolary work, Un autre Maroc (2013), entreats readers to think about a plethora of questions associated with Morocco's sociocultural and political milieus which have developed since the death of King Hassan II in 1999, marking the finale to the dark years of his reign known as Les annees de plomb (The Lead Years). The most important issues Laabi covers in his open letter to the people of Morocco center on what future the country can offer to its youth, how to get rid of corruption in all sectors of society, and how to create a more equitable and just society which allows for the right to champion ethnic and gender diversity. The work also contextualizes the first decade of the 21st century which rang in the new monarchy of King Mohamed VI, who has been hailed as a reformer. On another level, to read Laabi's missive to the people of Morocco brings into conversation not only the Moroccan-centered issues mentioned above, but also larger, universal questions about the role of intellectuals in a globally-interconnected world. |
