| 英文简介 | The Atacama desert region in northern Chile will soon host about 70 percent of the global infrastructure for astronomers studying the galaxy.DEMSCORE (acronym for research infrastructure for Democracy, Environment, Migration, Social policy, COnflict, and REpresentation) promises to make Sweden the Atacama of the social sciences. The main objective of DEMSCORE is to advance national and international research on complex societal challenges facing Sweden, Europe, and the world, including how to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Bringing together some of the world’s leading contextual research infrastructures and databases, produce momentous synergies and will significantly advance possibilities for research that can also provide evidence based policy advice. Sweden is in a unique position to accomplish this goal with the infrastructure producing the world’s largest collection of data on democracy, human rights, media, and civil society – Varieties of Democracy; the largest database on governance – Quality of Government; the infrastructure providing the entire world with authoritative data on armed conflicts – Uppsala Conflict Data Program/ViEWS; the Comparative Policy Laboratorybringing together world leading databases on social, environmental, and migration policies; and Representative Democracy in Europe and Its Neighborscombining leading databases on national/local governments across Europe/OECD. DEMSCORE will 1) build a world-leading hub for contextual data based on a first-rate e-infrastructure with user-friendly access to data, documentation, and online visualization tools; 2) secure and expand Sweden’s world-leading role in methodological development in this field, through harmonizing gold-standard protocols of data collection, processing, provision and documentation; 3) provide a sustainable, long-term administrative and financial basis for the development, preservation, and use of the partners’ infrastructures and data bases. |
