英文摘要 | This study is important due to the investigation of forage crops cultivation as intercrop in addition to the benefits of weed control, soil tillage, soil moisture conservation, reducing soil erosion and surface runoff, increasing organic matter content, improving the physical properties such as structure, compaction, infiltration and water content of soils. The study area has a great potential for a wide range of fruit growing. Orchards of pistachio, olive, almond, grape, pomegranate, apple and apricot cover a large area of approximately 6 million ha in southern Turkey. The soils outside the area covered by the trees in orchards are not used for approximately 6-7 months, except for pruning, maintenance and harvest. Therefore. cultivation of forage crops as intercrops during the free period in orchards attracts the attentions. Grazing of forage crops and adding to the soil after grazing with tillage as green fertilizer will contribute to the economy and as well as to the soil quality. In this study, conventional, reduced and no-tillage systems, which are of great importance in orchards, were compared for their impacts on several soil characteristics. |
