英文简介Spring ephemerals are an indispensable part of desert flora of China. There are more than 200 ephemeral species in China, out of which more than 90% are only distributing in Xinjiang. Extensive researches in physiology and ecology aspects have revealed the adaptation mechanisms of ephemerals to the arid environment, however, it is still inadequate and have not been clarified regarding the ephemerals’ evolution, genetic structure, phylogeographic structure, as well as the responding mechanisms of them to the aridification and desertification in Xinjiang. Ixiolirion songaricum is a Xinjiang endemic spring ephemeral. This project aims to conduct phylogeography studies on Ixiolirion songaricum with chloroplast DNA (trnL-trnF, psbA-trnH, trnS-trnG) and nuclear ITS sequences. We expect to clarify the genetic diversity, genetic structure, and phylogeographical structure and estimate the divergent time of Ixiolirion songaricum. Furthermore, we will discuss the relationships between the geographic distribution pattern of Ixiolirion songaricum populations and geological events and climate change in Xinjiang, as well as its evolutionary history. Our study will provide foundations for elucidating the evolution and responding mechanisms of geographic distribution patterns to climate changes of spring ephemerals.
