英文简介 | Litter decomposition is one of the important biochemical processes, a key determinant of nutrient turnover and carbon cycling in arid and semi-arid regions. Sand burial is common in arid regions and may strongly influence litter decomposition, carbon loss and nutrient turnover; thus, affect the structure, function and evolution of desert ecosystems. The litter bag method will be used in our project to study the effects of different sand burial depth (Control, 5 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm) on litter decomposition rates by using leaf litter of three dominant shrubs (Artemisia halodendron, Caragana microphylla, Salix gordejevii) and their mixture under natural proportion in Horqin Sandy Land. We will also record meteorological factors, soil factors (transmittance, temperature, water content, microbial richness) and litter quality (contents of C, N, P, lignin and ash) to quantitative analysis the changes of leaf litter decomposition rates under different sand burial depth, to develop an understanding of the mechanism of how sand burial as unique environmental factor of desert ecosystem influences nutrient cycling and litter decomposition. And expect to understand the structure and function of sandy ecosystem better, to provide a theoretical basis for the continued restoration of desert ecosystem. |
