英文简介 | More than half of area in the northern hemisphere is subjected to experience freezing-thawing cycle, which is a very important factor influenced soil carbon flux. However, the influences of freezing and thawing on soil carbon flux and carbon cycling models were usually neglected in the temperate desert area. Biological soil crusts are widely distributed in arid and semiarid regions, they are one of the main components in the process of soil carbon cycling. In this project, we will take soils in the Gurbantunggut Desert covered by algal crusts, lichen crusts, moss crusts and bare soil (as a control) as the objects of study, we will employ static chamber-gas chromatograph technique and infra-red gas analysis method to measure the diurnal, monthly and annual dynamics of soil carbon flux, and clarify the carbon flux characteristics of biologically crusted soil. Meanwhile, we will determine the fluorescence activity and CO2 exchange of biological soil crusts and soil physical and chemical properties simultaneously to clarify the key factors affecting soil carbon flux in the freezing-thawing cycle, and emphasis the influences of spatial-temporal variation in temperature and carbon fixation of biological soil crusts on soil carbon cycle. This project will not only amplify the relevant researches on soil carbon flux in desert ecosystem and enrich our understanding of freezing-thawing cycle process, but also will help to evaluate the soil carbon balance in arid and semiarid regions. |
