英文简介Aerosol-cloud interaction, playing an important role in energy budget and hydrological cycle, has been considered as the one of most important and uncertain forcing in climate modeling and prediction, especially in semi-arid regions, where the dust event is prevailing and the ecological environment is fragile. This program will investigate the aerosol-cloud-precipitation-radiation interaction over the semi-arid regions in northwest of China by using the long-term continues ground-based and satellite observations. Comparing with the previous studies using such as short-time field campaigns or polar-orbiting satellite, we use the long-term dataset from ground-based advanced positive and negative remote sensing instruments, such as cloud radar, Multi-wavelength polarization Raman Lidar, Microwave Radiometer, Multifilter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer, Condensation Particle Counter, and FY-2 series geostationary meteorological satellite. Based on the combined long-term, high-quality aerosol-cloud-precipitation-radiation dataset for semi-arid regions, the cloud will be classified into different types. For each kind of cloud, the mechanism of aerosol-cloud interaction, including aerosol first and second indirect effect, semi-direct effect and invigoration effect, will be fully investigated. Finally, taking the advantage of radiative transfer simulation, we can quantify the aerosol-mediated changes in cloud radiation forcing for different types of clouds, which could be valuable for evaluating the aerosol indirect climate effect over semi-arid regions.
