英文简介Monsoon and westerly circulation carried the dust causing by aridification and desert expansion to Loess Plateau, Shandong province in Eastern China and the North Pacific region under the desert edge or peripheral area, which become the key link of global ocean-land-atmosphere coupling changes. Eolian deposits in Shandong area contain a clear gravel bed with the direction of west to east that formed in the late Quaternary during the last glacial period. The gravel bed makes important information carrier of environmental changes by recording the material migration in the earth's atmosphere-pedosphere-hydrosphere-geosphere. Few researches were conducted on gravel beds in Shandong eolian deposits, especially as the formation dating and provenance are not clear. Three profiles of gravel beds in Shandong eolian deposits will be studied: OSL dating to confirm the chronosequence of gravel beds; analysis of sedimentary characteristics and provenance indication of U-Pb age of zircon in clastic sediment to explain the sources, transportation dynamic and direction. Results could make better understanding of background of Shandong eolian deposits, explore the major climatic events in East Asia, provide scientific basis for revealing the change of geological process, and also provide scientific guidance for Shandong Yellow-Blue national strategy.
