英文简介Loess and associated aeolian deposits are widespread in the eastern Tibetan Plateau(TP). These deposits have the potential to provide valuable archives to understand the effects of the tectonic uplift and the evolution of arid environment in the TP since late Pleistocene.This study focuses on the loess deposits in the eastern TP, and the sands/dune deposits in the Huanghe-Changjiang Headwaters region. Six typical transections from NW to SE, including sand sheets, paleo-dunes, loess-paleosol sequences,will be investigated using detailed optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and AMS 14-C dating methods to resconstruct the high resolution aeolian sediment rates, dust flux,and aeolian activities history since the last glacial. Based on the reliable chronology, the detailed environmental records can be built by multiple proxies to investigate the aeolian process, dust passports, aridification history, and the effects of the climate changes and the Tibetan uplift.
