| 英文简介 | Variations in the Asia summer monsoon play a fundamental role in the evolution of China's natural environment. Stalagmite records from Chinese caves revealed that the Asian summer monsoon variability broadly follows Northern Hemisphere summer insolation during the Holocene. However, this is different from monsoon pattern derived from the loess and other records. Furthermore, the climatic indication of speleothem oxygen isotope is still under intense debate. In this research, we choose small lakes/wetlands in the Alashan Plateau located in the transitional zone from the monsoon region to the westerly region, to carry out a multi-proxy investigation (e.g. pollen, carbon isotope, oxygen isotope of ostracode shells and carbonate) on lacustrine sediment cores. On the basis of reliable chronology established by 14C dating of terrestrial plants and OSL dating of eolian sediments, this study is aiming to reconstruct the general pattern of summer monsoon change and the drought event series during the Holocene, track the extent of inland penetration of monsoon rainfall in that period, and finally understand the interaction between the monsoon and westerly circulation. |
