英文简介There are close relationships between the genetic structure and effective population size of extant species and historical environment changes. The Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) is a very important region for studying the origin, speciation, and phylogeographical patterns of local species during the Quaternary period. Based on the theories of population genetics, molecular ecology, and evolutionary biology, this study will use three genomic markers (the maternally inherited mitochondrial genes, the biparental inherited nuclear genes, and the microsatellites) as well as various bioinformatics programs to analyze the population genetic structure and phylogeograph of three QTP endemic rodent species (Eospalax baileyi, Microtus oeconomus, and Marmota himalayana). We aim to trace the historical population dynamics and the probable evolutionary processes of these species, and based on which, we will try to find the same and different points of their phylogeographical characteristics and test the mechanisms that the major environmental events affecting the phylogeograph of these animals. This study project has important theoretical values to elucidate the driving mechanisms those forming the geographical patterns of local animals, and also, have great practical significances for knowing the rules of expending and outbreak of pest rodents, preventing pest disasters and propagation of diseases, and finally maintaining regional ecological security and the protection of human health in the plateau.
