英文简介Desert riparian forest is not only one of the most concentrated areas by vegetation distribution in arid area, but also one of the key ingredients for nutrient cycle and carbon balance in the terrestrial ecosystem. Based on the hypothesis that radical change of the water condition may alter the source/sink function of the soil carbon pool in the desert riparian forest, this research investigates the response of soil active organic carbon to different flooding duration in Populus euphratic forest in the middle and lower reaches of the Tarim River through field control-and-monitoring experiments combined with indoor experiments. The response of litter decomposition characteristics and their dynamics to different flooding duration and the effect of litter on the mineralization rate of soil organic matter will be studied, and the contribution of litter to soil organic carbon pools will be estimated in the project. In addition, influence of the interaction between flooding duration and litter on the soil respiration flux is illustrated, and the contribution of respiration in the litter layer to the total soil CO2 efflux will be also evaluated in the study. Furthermore, impact of flooding duration changes on the soil respiration flux will be analyzed. Finally, the study will verify the hypothesis by analyzing the dynamics of soil organic carbon, litter and soil respiration flux at stages of before, during and after flooding disturbance. The research results are very important to reveal the soil carbon cycle regulation,predict the global carbon balance, and protect the soil carbon pool of desert riparian forest system in the arid area.
