英文简介 | Tamarix species is an important shrub vegetation, which is widely distributed on salinized land in arid and semi-arid areas, and has a significant role in maintaining the balances of desert ecosystem. During evolution, Tamarix species have developed various mechanisms to enhance their drought adaptations capability, including xylem functional adjustment and structural modification. In this research, two-year old seedlings of six Tamarix species (T. taklamakanensis, T .androssowii, T. ramosissima , T. leptostachys, T. hispida and T. chenesis) will be selected as target species according to their drought resisting ability. Open house control experiment will be considered to investigating and measuring the xylem functions, including water transport function, mechanical support function and water, nutrient saving function as well as their xylem structures. Xylem sap ionic concentration will be applied for testing whether tamarix species xylem has “ion effect”, and its eco-physiological significance for plant’s adaptation to drought environment. Through analysis of internal relationships among the xylem structures, functions and “ion effect”, and their response on water stress treatment, try to understand the underlying mechanisms of ecological adaptability of tamarix species to drought environment. This study will facilitates understanding of the eco-physiological mechanism of desert vegetation to acclimatization to drought environment. |
