英文简介Bactrian camels serve as an important means of transportation in the cold desert regions of China and Mongolia. To adapt to the harsh conditions, camels have acquired many special abilities and attributes. The camels maintain a high level of blood glucose but do not develop metabolic diseases or display related pathological features in their population level. The dramatic copy number variations of CYP2 and CYP4 family in the camel genome are adopted to form a unique metabolic module. The module ensures a well-maintained concentration balance between two functionally divergent metabolites (20-HETE and EETs), which provides camels with a protective mechanism against diabetes and other metabolic diseases. In order to explore the mechanism of tolerating hyperglycemia by protecting the function of islets βcells in bactrian camel, the primary culture systems of βcells will be established and the effects and signal transduction mechanism of EETs or 20-HETE/EETs on the proliferation, apoptosis and insulin secretion of βcells will be studied in this research. This study will provide a brand new idea and theoretical basis for prevention and treatment of diabetes or metabolic syndrome.
