英文摘要 | The semi-arid climate contributes to the process of water salinization, one of the main water quality problems faced in reservoirs in arid and semi-arid regions. In this scenario, the ionic quality of the surface waters of the Sitios Novos reservoir, Caucaia, Brazil was analyzed using water stability indices, irrigation indices and salinity indices. The influence of the annual climate cycle, the reserved volume and the temporal variation of the ionic indices for the period from 2004 to 2017 were determined. The results showed sodium chloride type waters. The stability indices indicated that the surface water can be potentially corrosive, limiting industrial applications. As for the suitability for use in irrigation, the waters were of medium salinity, low sodium and safe for irrigation purposes regarding the dangerous effect of CO32- and HCO3-. The salinity indices indicated low restriction waters. Strong and moderate correlations between the fraction of available volume and some ionic indices were obtained. The rainy and dry seasons did not present statistically significant influences on the ionic indices evaluated. The ionic indices are simple and low cost tools to keep a continuous and regular monitoring and control of the surface water in the Semi-Arid Tropic. |
