英文摘要	The irregularity of rainfall in the Brazilian semi-arid region has contributed, since 1930, to the implementation of public policies to combat drought. At the end of the 1990s, a vision of coexistence with the semi-arid emerged through the Training and Social Mobilization Program for Coexistence with the Semi-Arid. The project "One Million Rural Cisterns" is an example of this. In this context, the work in question addresses coexistence with the semi-arid region, using plate tanks, in the towns of Pau Branco, Campestre de Cima and PavAo, in the municipality of Frechcirinha, in the state of Ceara, Brazil. After two years of research, with vigorous data collection and long interviews, it was possible to evaluate the positive effects of this paradigm shift in the treatment of water resources management, based on community participation.
