英文摘要	The Germans were one of the most active European colonies in the economic, social and educational fields.This in the salt-peter pampas and in the city of Antofagasta. In the desert they developed the nitrate industry in the communes of Tocopilla and Taltal. In Antofagasta, its actions focused on commerce, banking, education and professional practice in the first three decades of the twentieth century. Its relationship with the regional society followed the patterns observed in other Chilean cities.
