英文摘要	This article examines Pedro Mairal's El ano del desierto through various theoretical approaches to the concept of the contemporary. In contrast to the novels of genealogy, this is a text that works with the remains of Argentine literature and goes back in time in order to find literary filiations that allow it to frame the present of the crisis. In this way, Mairal's novel conjures up the figure of the contemporary writer as an orphan who is able to reappropriate all the codes and protocols of the literary tradition.
