英文摘要	Sentencing juvenile offenders is a complex process which sometimes raises ethical dilemmas. The objective of this study is to better understand the decision-making process of juvenile justice practitioners in such circumstances. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with a sample of 30 juvenile justice practitioners. After describing an ethical dilemma experienced in their judicial practice, Crown prosecutors and youth workers were asked to explain how they resolved their dilemma. The analysis of their dilemmas reveals that the majority focus on the aim of sentencing : should they recommend a fair sentence, which reflect the seriousness of the offence committed, or should they rather recommend a useful sentence that meet the needs of the juvenile offender (in terms of rehabilitation) and the society (in terms of prevention of recidivism)? The analysis of the reasons given by the juvenile justice practitioners to justify their final decision shows how the choice of an approach (just deserts, utilitarianism or intermediate position) influences the analysis they make of the different elements of the case and the meaning they give to these elements.
