英文摘要	The adult educator develops his social assignment with young people and adults who for various reasons have deserted or started late the levels of basic and secondary education; their continuous training should be framed in proposals that allow the development of pedagogical professional skills to assume adequately the specific educational needs of these population groups, however these programs are few and insufficient even when the Colombian state establishes it together with the teaching aptitude as key factor in improving the quality of education.This article is part of investigative actions that focus their interest on a preliminary approach to the characterization of the profile of the adult educator, particularly in the municipality of Santiago de Cali with the purpose of reviewing their suitability, the results of their teaching action and the relational field of their continuous training to configure the challenges that concern them to appropriate their role, improve their teaching performance and contribute to the improvement of quality.
