英文摘要	The article analyses one of the most popular Soviet films, The White Sun of the Desert (1970), in terms of a historical model of Russia's geopolitics. The author argues that the cinematographic images employed in the film reveal, on the example of the Caspian region, the practice of expanding Russia's influence in Central Asia through the activities of Russian military experts. The emphasis is laid on the analysis of the characters each of whom represents a certain conceptual position in Russia's geopolitical model reconstructed by the film director and the actors. The author partly attributes the everlasting popularity of this film to how deeply it reflected the idea of the Russian model of spreading control over geopolitical space with the help of "polite" military experts.
