| 英文摘要 | With respect to investigating sites of human rights violations, Eyal Weizman differentiates between "the field [as] the site of investigation and the forum [as] the place where the results of an investigation are presented." My article explores the dual function of "field" and "forum" in texts -among them un(der) researched German war reports, Herero songs and interviews as well as a U.S.-American play-about sites of the Herero displacement and genocide in the German-Herero Colonial War (1804-1908). In particular, I pursue the question in which way the enforced flight of the Herero into the Omaheke desert (Otjiherero for sand field) became the subject of oral and written comments and representations which have contributed to framing the perspectives on this colonial war in public discourses. The article also touches on observations about the performative, dramatic quality of some of these texts about the human rights violations and the drama in the desert. |
