英文摘要	This study evaluated the performance of seedlings Enterolobium contortisiliquum produced with different substrates in a semiarid area in southern Piaui. Therefore, 75 seedlings Enterolobium contortisiliquum were planted at 2 x 2 m spacing in 40 x 40 cm dimension pits, in an area degraded by mining in the desertification process for at least 80 years. It was used fifteen treatments and five repetitions per treatment in a randomized design under different types and substrates doses: organic urban waste compost, carnauba straw and carbonized rice husk added to Yellow Oxisol subsurface samples to compose five different proportions of each substrate: subsoil (%): 0: 100; 20: 80; 40: 60; 60: 40; 80: 20. The three tested organic substrates influenced significantly, providing a better development of seedlings Enterolobium contortisiliquum compared to the witness, without adding any organic source. The carnauba straw substrates and the urban waste compost substrates were recommended for producing seedlings to recover areas in desertification in Piaui.
