英文摘要	This article assesses the state of land degradation or conservation in Inhaca Island, based on a theoretical proposal process of land degradation and with support of geo-technologies. Land degradation is conceived as a process of ordered changes in the structure and functions of the landscape. A portion of land is then susceptible to desertification when aspects of geo-environmental support, particularly hydrogeological conditions, are affected by degradation phenomena (such as the decrease in the level of groundwater due either to climatic variations or to over exploitation of groundwater resources). The Inhaca Island is not susceptible to desertification, however, degradation of vegetation and soil is locally of great concern.
