英文摘要	This study aims to conduct a preliminary analysis of forms of cohabitation with the drought of the population of the semiarid region of Paraiba River basin, starting from largest and smalls hydraulic works. In this perspective, we explain the reality from a spatial analysis of the projects and proposed actions for the region. The results show that the PISF will provide changes in land use, but without changes in the conditions of access to water in the dispersed of the population rural areas. However, the only guarantee for the cities of the semiarid region of Paraiba basin, from the PISF, is that the the supply made through water mains remain the same and there may be an expansion in its distribution network. In contrast, this TSH come from integrating as an emergency measure water supply during drought periods these scattered populations will not have access to PISF waters
