英文摘要	The sand spots on the southwestern of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, form notable features in the landscape, resembling by far with deserts. Despite this similarity, there are the questions: Could it be argued that this areas in a geographic location related to the desert areas of the globe? Or ask: Where is the climate dry and susceptible to desertification? Or: Where climatic trends or changes that would induce the establishment of an arid/semi-arid climate occur? Or even: Where would there be seasonality in precipitation in order to characterize a well-defined dry season? Questions raised, in this essay aims to answer these questions based on the premise to demystify the occurrence of desert or desertification processes in the area, but also the presentation of sandization processes as a basis for understanding theses sand spots called sand deposits.
