英文摘要	The scarce water availability within arid and semiarid regions imposes limits to regional social and economic development. Herein a multiobjective optimization model to maximize benefits was used to establish actions to conserve natural water resources and control its use. This paper presents a study of sustainable use of water resources of Epitacio Pessoa reservoir, situated in the Pariaba river in cariri paraibano, considering of optimum multiobjective and multiannual operation. The reservoir aims to supply urban, meeting the demands of perimeter water irrigated and the continuity of the Pariaba River downstream of the same. The results show that agricultural activity can be developed in the Epitacio Pessoa reservoir without compromising the human supply demand in cities (scenario 2), provided that it is a study of which crops must be grown and at what time of year. Has that the reservoir cannot meet demand fully established for the continuity of the river downstream of the same.
