英文摘要	This paper will focus on the Early Medieval Insular saints Fursey, Guthlac and Cuthbert and the ways in which their visions are used artistically to affirm links with eastern desert eremitic monasticism. It will examine how these verbal and visual artworks reflected those saints' visions of earthly society and celestial eternity. It will also examine the contribution of the visions of demonic temptation, endured by saints Fursey and Guthlac, to the European literary and visual tradition of visions of heaven and hell.
