英文摘要	This paper presents an overview of fluvial-environmental operation on semi-arid region, and includes a case study of the Jaguaribe-Valley, which is located in the state of Ceara. The discussion highlights questions about dams and their repercussion on the morphodynamic of channels. Beyond the theoretical discussion, to accomplish this experiment, data was collected from 11 (eleven) stations distributed between the Castanhnao dam and Jaguaruana, such as measurement flows, concentration of sediment, and width and depth of cross sections. The longitudinal profile was made from SRTM data, using ArcGis 9.3. The study results show that intensity of the fluvial processes that occur in semi-arid regions needs to be studied differently from processes that occur in humid areas. At the Jaguaribe Valley, the data analyzed indicate that dams, particularly large ones, morphologically change the downstream. However, it takes time for such changes to be registered. This is the situation which has caused the downstream changes observed at the Oros, Varzea do Boi and Castanhnao dams. The downstream effects of the Castanhao dam are the least noticeable because the dam was built in 2002. If morphologically, the influences of a dam may take a long time to be visible, water and sedimentology variations can be seen quickly. In this sense, changes affect mainly the amplitude of the flow, influencing the reduction of the solid-load, and consequently change the channels' patterns in the medium and long term.
