英文摘要	We approach the city of Antofagasta, northern Chile. With a bird's eye view, we cannot make out the Huanchaca Ruins of the new building of the Atacama Desert Museum very well and this is undoubtedly one of the successes of the project. The new building is added to the site as an extra layer, without competing at any time with the existing ruins, making evident its secondary role. As an added value, the open spaces that the building generates, such as the amphitheater and the raised area, have become the main meeting point of the city. The authors have not only constructed a building, they have accomplished much more than that; they have managed to "build" a place.
