英文摘要	Critics have argued that Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe (1719) presents a very typical colonialism, in which there are many colonizer's impositions on the native (language, culture, ownership over the land, slavery etc.). This happens when the main character and narrator Crusoe is shipwrecked on a Caribbean desert island, living there with a native called Friday. However, critics have not considered other events of the novel. This paper intends to analyze these other events (Crusoe's role in the commerce of slaves and in Portuguese colonialism in Brazil, his first years in the island before Friday's arriving), showing that, since the beginning of the story, there are elements whose aim is to support colonialism and to keep the native in silence.
