英文摘要	This article focuses on the creation of characters by Triunfo Arciniegas. Drawing on autobiographical elements, nostalgia, and the correspondence with his grandmother, Emperatriz, the author dwells on three main themes: paradise lost solitude, and the pain of living. The strength of the feminine is another crucial aspect in the creation of his characters. Lucy, the protagonist of Caja de lagrimas, could very well embody the ideal of beauty, the oasis of love, happiness, the locus amoenus itself. Reality and imagination mingle playfully in his work with a single purpose: to express characters in their quest for happiness.
