英文摘要	Rainfall in the western part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is very rare. In this area, the limited rainfalls usually concentrate in a short period, which sometimes cause the instability of highway slope. The instability mechanism of highway slope caused by rainfalls in arid area is discussed; and the analysis method for slope stability evaluation is suggested. A practical case study is carried out by using the proposed theory and FE method. The method proposed can be for reference in researching and designing highway slopes in similar area.
