英文摘要	The hunter and gatherers groups that walked the deserts of septentrional Mexico appropriated them by this very same act of movement. In these routes they optimized their access to resources while at the same time printed in elements of the landscape elements related to their cosmovision, beliefs, myths (geosymbols). For this reason they contemplated and experienced desert landscapes as "ritual landscapes". However, as all territory, the desert is also object of collective representation, which ef square cacy is autonomous and works as potential guidance to action (practices), and therefore, the de square nition of spatial politics. The article illustrated this ef square cacy when comparing two different visions about northern deserts. On the one hand colonial authorities and liberal politicians of the XIX century, and on the other hand anglo-protestant colonizers, known as the pioneers (los pioneros). The collision of the encounter of both visions can shed light to understand more of one historic question concerning Mexico's relation with the U.S. in the XIX century.
