英文摘要	This article analyses a series of discoursive transformations operated during the XIXth century in countries like Argentina and the United States, which completed their territorial integration occupying indigenous lands, claiming them to be "empty". These transformations turned "Indians" into "savages", "Christianity" into "civilization"; indigenous "territories" into "deserts", and "independent nations" into "rebellious tribes". They contributed decisively to the domestication of the indigenous question, to the deprivation of indigenous individual and collective rights and to a very limited citizenship. We present critiques of those intellectual constructions in order to contribute to the restitution of indigenous peoples'rights.
