英文摘要 | Aeolian-fluvial interactions are common earth-surface processes in arid regions. Preliminarily research have attempted to classify the characteristics of aeolian-fluvial landforms based on different temporal and spatial scales. Commonly, these classifications are rather generalized descriptions of landforms. Such descriptions are inadequate for establishing a kinetic model of aeolian-fluvial interactions, nor will it be persuasive enough to represent a ubiquitous system. This study applies landscape ecology techniques, including landscape metrics, principal component analysis and cluster analysis, to identify a new classification of aeolian-fluvial landform types based on data from drylands in northern China. From this study, the following five categories of aeolianfluvial landforms have been identified: (1) Massive dunefield - Convergent drainage; (2) Scattered dunefield Parallel drainage; (3) Mosaic dunefield - Dendritic drainage; (4) Banded dunefield - Fan-shaped drainage; and (5) Fragmented dunefield - Non-contributing drainage. This landscape classification scheme is set at the basinscale in contemporary time and provides a framework for analysing the geomorphological characteristics of various aeolian-fluvial landforms quantitatively. This study clearly demonstrates such methods are potentially useful tools in geomorphological analyses. |
